Dr. Guillermo J. Borjas Salas is a general and bariatric surgeon in Venezuela and Colombia. Currently is the medical director of the international unit of bariatric and robotic surgery with headquarters in Caracas, Maracaibo, Lecheria and Maracaibo in Venezuela also with presence in Barranquilla and Cucuta in Colombia. He has been a general surgeon since 2009 receiving his degree in the University of Zulia in Venezuela. Also with the degree of doctor of medical sciences in 2012 and completing his training in bariatric surgery in Bogotá, Colombia in 2012. In the last 2 years with training in robotic surgery starting the performing of robotic bariatric surgery. Is member of IFSO International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders, Colombian Association of Obesity and Bariatric Surgery, Venezuelan Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and active member of Venezuelan Society of Surgery. Having been a university professor and member of the academic committee of general surgery program at the General of South Hospital - University of Zulia for the period 2012-2015 currently leading the fellowship program of bariatric and metabolic surgery in the international unit of bariatric and robotic surgery. He is author of more than 10 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed impact factor scientific journals. His main professional and scientific interests focus on bariatric surgery, minimally invasive bariatric surgery, magnetic and robotic bariatric surgery.
