Dr. Ademola Adeyeye MBBS, FRCS(England), FACS, FEBS, FMAS, FWACS, PGDE is a General Surgeon, Surgical Oncologist and an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Afe Babalola University, Nigeria. He is currently the Vice president and Clinical research coordinator of the Nigerian Society for Colorectal Disorders (NSCRD) and the African coordinator for The Upper GI Surgeons Society (TUGSS). He served as a technical consultant in developing the World Health Organization 2023 report on the Global Breast Cancer Initiative.

Dr. Ademola Adeyeye is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in General Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and a fellow in Minimal Access Surgery (MAS) India. He is the first from sub-Saharan Africa to become a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (FEBS).

Dr. Ademola Adeyeye aced his undergraduate medical training as the best-graduating student of the University of Ilorin and had his postgraduate residency training at the teaching hospital of the same institution where he was appointed a consultant General surgeon. His additional academic training includes a Master in Clinical trials from the University of London, a certificate in Leadership and Management in Health from the University of Washington USA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the Open University of Nigeria.

He is a recipient of many prestigious fellowship training including the Soudavar Surgical Oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, NY(USA), the General and Visceral Surgery fellowship at the University of Heidelberg (Germany), the Smith International Surgical fellowship by the Cleveland Clinic, Florida (USA) as well as the Visiting Clinical fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, UK under the ESSO scholarship for young surgeons.

Dr. Adeyeye is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS) and the Africa Research Group for Oncology (ARGO).

He served as the pioneer representative of the European Society for Surgical Oncology (ESSO) representative for Nigeria, a member of the research group for the ESSO Young Surgeons Academy (EYSAC) and. the African representative on the Scientific and Education Committee of the InternationalnHepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Association (IHPBA). He is on the board of trustees of Lifefount Foundation and also on the advisory board of a number of undergraduate medical societies.

Dr. Adeyeye is interested in surgical education and medical technology made him serve as a Postgraduate Supervisor of the Master in Surgery (ChM) program at the University of Edinburgh and as a Medical Supervisor to a PhD program on the role of Artificial intelligence in the detection of cancer at the Covenant University, Nigeria.

His research interests include Gastrointestinal Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Minimal Access Surgery, Medical Education and Artificial Intelligence. He served as the National Principal investigator for Nigeria in a number of Multinational Collaborative studies including the PANSURG collaborative, the OPERAS study, the CO-OLDER study and the APOLLO study. He served as a panel member on a Delphi consensus study of experts from ESSO, ESCP and E-AHPBA on guidelines for the management of colorectal liver metastasis. He is also on the panel of experts from the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organization (ECCO) investigating the challenges in diagnosis, management and knowledge gaps for IBD in low and low-middle-income countries.

Dr. Adeyeye has over 120 scientific publications (h-index=20; i10-index=30) and has served as a peer reviewer for a number of scientific journals which include Trials, Journal for Clinical Oncology and the West African Journal of Medicine. He is a guest author on 'Adaptation of Artificial Intelligence in the Design and Conduct of clinical trials' for Elsevier.

As a recipient of international and regional awards Dr Adeyeye is passionate about delivering current, compassionate, cost-effective and competent clinical care, especially in resource-constrained settings.
