Dr Andrea Bondurri is a Consultant General Surgeon at Luigi Sacco University Hospital in Milan, Italy, where he is in charge of the Colorectal Surgery Unit.  He received his MD and postgraduate degree in General Surgery at the University of Milan, and his PhD in Surgery and Surgical Biotechnology at the University of Insubria - Varese. He is qualified for Associate Professor position in the Italian National Scientific Qualification System for General Surgery.

He has been elected in the National Council of the Italian Society of Colorectal Surgeons (SICCR) from 2017 to 2021. In 2018 he co-founded the Multidisciplinary Italian Study Group on Stoma (MISSTO). MISSTO’s mission is to unite surgeons, stoma nurses, allied professionals, and patients to improve outcomes and quality of life for people living with stoma. Recent contributions include Italian surgical guidelines (Ferrara et al., 2019); Italian nursing guidelines (Roveron et al., 2021); Italian urological guidelines (Tafuri et al., 2022); Mapping review on ostomy complication management (Parini et al., 2023); educational initiatives and collaborative audits. He is serving Annali Italiani di Chirurgia, the oldest national surgery journal in Italy, as Editor-in-Chief since February 2024.

He is the Author of more than 80 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed impact factored scientific journals with a personal Scopus H-index of 25 and more than 2,900 citations
