Dr. Francesco Ferrara is Assistant Professor and Consultant of Surgery at University of Palermo (Italy), with subspecialization in Colorectal and Abdominal Wall Surgery. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Catholic University of Rome and specialized in General Surgery at the University of Siena. He carried out a surgical fellowship at the Hospital Sant Pau of Barcelona (Spain) and worked as General and Emergency Surgeon at San Carlo Borromeo Hospital of Milan until 2023.

Dr. Francesco Ferrara has good experience in the treatment of Colo-Rectal and Proctological Diseases with traditional and minimally invasive techniques as well as Abdominal Wall Surgery with advanced minimally invasive approaches. He also has good skills in Emergency and Trauma Surgery.

He is General Secretary of the Italian Society of Colo-Rectal Surgery (SICCR) and author of over 100 publications in international indexed journals. He is a member of the Editorial Board of BMC Surgery and Frontiers in Surgery and invited speaker at several national and international congresses. His main professional and scientific interests focus on surgical oncology, gastrointestinal diseases, colorectal and proctological surgery, hernia and diastasis recti surgery, emergency and trauma surgery, laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
