Dr. Ana Gimeno was born in Castellón (Spain) in 1978. She finished her Medical Degree in 2002 at the University of Valencia, and her Residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Care in 2008 at the Hospital General Universitario de Valencia (Spain), remaining there as a consultant anesthesiologist until 2009. She then continued as a consultant anesthesiologist at Hospital Provincial de Castellón from 2009 to 2016, and at Hospital General Universitario de Castellón between 2016 and 2022.
She holds her current position at Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia since 2022.
Academically, Dr. Ana Gimeno obtained her PhD in 2020, for which she was awarded a grant. Since 2015 she has focused her professional development on anesthesiology for patients with obesity and bariatric surgery, and is particularly interested in ERAS programs, sustainability in the surgical setting, and in social networking.
As such, she is coordinator of the working groups 'Perioperative Management of the Patient with Obesity', 'Sustainability in the Surgical Setting' and SEDARTV produced by the Spanish Society of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care (SEDAR).
She has also published articles in national and international scientific journals, book chapters, and has participated as principal investigator and collaborating researcher in national multicentre projects. She has been a collaborating and assistant professor at the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón teaching medical degree students, and was a main author of a master's degree module curriculum.
