Dr. Anthony J. Froix, MBA has over 15 years of leadership experience working in New York, Hawaii and now at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. Currently, he serves as the assistant professor of Surgical Oncology, specializing in breast cancer and breast surgery, and the Vice Chair of Engagement & Excellence (formerly Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) for the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern. Over the course of his career, he has been fortunate to practice in different locations, providing him with firsthand experience on how cancer care is delivered in different settings and the impact a cancer diagnosis has on a person and a family. His passion lies in advancing cancer care and he is actively engaged in teaching and mentoring fellows, medical students, residents, and junior faculty to further the work in cancer care within the learning environment.
Dr. Froix is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Association for Physician Leadership, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Society of Black Academic Surgeons, and the Texas Medical Association. He holds leadership positions and is a member of several local and national committees including but not limited to the Association of Black Surgical Societies, American College of Surgeons, American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, Parkland Health and Hospital System, and University of Texas Southwestern.
Dr. Froix completed his fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago, his residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and his medical education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts and holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Business Administration in Medical Management from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester in NY.
