Ashveer Gungabeessoon is currently the Business Development Lead in a private medical distributor company in Port Louis, Mauritius. Ashveer is a registered Nurse in Mauritius since 2005 having completed his 3 years of training in Nursing. He worked in 1 of the public hospitals from 2002 to 2014 where he practiced nursing in various departments; namely, Accident & Emergency Dept, Surgical/ Medical/ Orthopedic wards taking care of the patients. He joined the Operating Room team where he practiced both as an anesthetic and scrub nurse in multiple specialities like general surgery, GYN & Obs, hepatobiliary, orthopedic, spine, neurosurgery, paediatric, ENT, dental & maxillofacial and renal transplant. Ashveer Gungabeessoon still holds his full license to practice as a General Nurse in Mauritius and is also a member of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Association (MISA), partnering with local surgeons, to elevate the standard of care and enhance the surgical outcome for patients.

Ashveer joined the medical sales private sector in 2014 and worked in positions such as Marketing Executive and Product Specialist for Laparoscopy. Ashveer won the Energy Star of the Year award from Johnson & Johnson in 2020 and in 2021, he was designated Sales Representative of the Year 2021 for the African region. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he was invited by one of his multinational partners to provide virtual training to his peers in Africa for a multiple range of products within the portfolio. Ashveer spearheaded medical consumables and equipment departments as Head of Medical Division from 2022 to 2023, earning successes in concerned the fields of business. As from January 2023, Ashveer Gungabeessoon is the Head of Nursing in one of the most influent private hospitals in Mauritius.

His main professional and scientific interests focus on general abdominal surgery, minimally invasive abdominal surgery, quality of care, risk mitigation, OR practices and team development, enhanced patient outcome and health economics.
