She believes that medicine and anaesthesiology, leadership and management are power fields that must be leveraged for an effective surgical and anaesthesia healthcare system. Her latest work is on human resources for anaesthesiology and her PhD thesis was on the “Analysis of Physician Anaesthesia Workforce Crisis in Nigeria: An Insider’s Action Research”. She is a pragmatic scientific scholar, an action researcher, and a well-known international speaker.
She is currently championing the Women Anaesthesia Specialists in Africa (WASA) project. She is a Visiting Professor of Change Management at the International School of Management, Paris and teaches at Institut Supérieur de Gestion (ISG) Paris.
Dr. Onajin-Obembe served as President, Africa Regional Section (ARS) of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (2013 – 2017); and President, Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists (2014 – 2018).
She is Council & Board Member, World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists; Director, Global Alliance for Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma and Anaesthesia Care (G4 Alliance); Workforce Lead, for the Federal Ministry of Health’s policy on National Surgical, Obstetrics, Anaesthesia, and Nursing Plan (NSOANP) for Nigeria; Member of the Implementation Committee of NSOANP; and Member of several WHO Technical Expert Working Groups.
