Dr. Daisuke Ban is a Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon and Professor and Chairman at the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Institute of Science Tokyo Hospital, in Japan. He moved to Institute of Science Tokyo, in 2024 after National Cancer Center Hospital Japan as chief staff hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeon.


Dr. Daisuke Ban is the current member of the Japan Society of Endoscopic Surgery (JSES). He is a member of the JSES Board, and member of Skill Qualification Committee. The Endoscopic Surgical Skill Qualification System is a certification system for surgeons that aims to standardize endoscopic surgery and ensure a high level of technical skill is available everywhere, by evaluating the skills of surgeons through video reviews of their actual surgeries.

His main professional and scientific interests focus on hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, in particular minimally invasive surgery, quality of surgery, and risk stratification and modeling.
