Dr David Brown is a Consultant Urological Surgeon. He underwent specialist urology training in the Royal Air Force in the UK and developed a sub specialist interest in the management of urological cancers including laparoscopic surgery. He worked as a consultant in Fife in Scotland. Upon retiral from the RAF, he emigrated with his family in 2011 to take up a position in Invercargill. Upon arrival, he started the laparoscopic urology service in the Southern District Health Board offering laparoscopic nephrectomy, laparoscopic nephro-ureterectomy, laparoscopic pyelosplasty and laparoscopic varicocoele ligation. He was the Intern Supervisor for Southland Hospital, a role for the New Zealand Medical Council to oversee the training needs of the junior doctors. He was actively involved in training and teaching the specialist trainees in Southland and also involved in the undergraduate medical student teaching. He moved with his family to Orange NSW to take up a VMO position at the Orange Base Hospital and is enjoying working with his colleagues at Central west Urology to offer a comprehensive and high quality service to the regional population.
