David Lubowski is Conjoint Professor in Surgery, University of New South Wales,  and Head of Department of Colorectal Surgery and the Division of Surgery, and Director of the Anorectal Physiology Unit at St George Hospital, Sydney. 

He has published over 120 papers in national and international peer reviewed journals, and 21 chapters in textbooks. He has a Google Scholar h-Index of 50 with over 7,400 citations. 

Professor Lubowski has been Visiting Professor, Royal Society of Medicine, London. He has given over 110 lectures at national and international conferences.

He is on the Senior Editorial Board of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, and was the colorectal specialty editor from 2010-2023.  He is a referee to multiple European and American high impact factor journals.

He has been a councillor on the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia, a referee to the National Health and Medical Research Council, and a member of the National Panel for Cancer Research Grants, Anti-Cancer Council of Victoria.

His research interests are in constipation, faecal incontinence, rectal prolapse, and complex anal fistula management.
