Dr. Elaine Ng is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and Head of the Department of Surgery of Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh, Malaysia – a 1000-bedded state tertiary hospital in northern Peninsular Malaysia. She also has a sessional colorectal surgery service in Pantai Hospital, Ipoh. Dr Elaine is an adjunct clinical lecturer in Surgery at the Royal College of Medicine Perak, University of Kuala Lumpur in Ipoh and Sultan Azlan Shah Nursing College of the Ministry of Health Malaysia. 

She graduated from the University of Malaya in 2005 followed by completion of postgraduate training in Master of Surgery from the same university in the year 2013 before completing her 3-year Colorectal Surgery Fellowship in several centers in Malaysia and China Medical University Hospital in Taiwan with Prof William Tzu-Liang Chen in 2021 after a 4 ½ years’ experience as a General Surgeon. She has been Head of the Colorectal Surgery unit of Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun Ipoh since 2023 and is now Head of the Department since 2024. She is also the chief state coordinator for Basic Surgical Training and hospital coordinator for Advanced Surgical Training, instrumental also in restructuring and coordinating the hospital’s consolidated ostomy care services.

Dr. Elaine is currently the Honorary Treasurer of the Malaysian Society of Colorectal Surgeons and is an active member of many societies including the College of Surgeons (Colorectal Chapter, Minimally Invasive Chapter), Academy of Medicine Malaysia; Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA), Asia Pacific Society of Peritoneal Surface Malignancy (APSMG), European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP), International Society of Surgery (ISS), Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Malaysia (SELSMA) and Asian Surgical Association (ASA). She has been a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) since year 2022 and also the Ipoh Team leader for the Colorectal Cancer Survivorship Society of Malaysia (CORUM). She is also a reviewer for the Malaysian Medical Journal and several other journals under Wolter Knowles. 

Dr. Elaine has won several best posters & oral presentations in various colorectal and general surgical conferences in Malaysia and overseas; speaker and facilitator in multiple colorectal and surgical conferences and workshops in Malaysia and overseas. She has also been a collaborator in multiple international clinical trials

Dr Elaine is also an active volunteer and donor for World Vision Malaysia and the National Cancer Council.
