With over 30 years of distinguished work experience, Dr. Fualal Jane Odubu has forged an exemplary career as a surgeon, clinician, surgical educator, leader, supervisor, and examiner. Dr. Odubu's profound passion centers around ensuring the highest standards in clinical practice, with a specialized focus on Breast and Endocrine Surgery. Notably, she held the esteemed position of Head of the Breast and Endocrine Unit at Mulago National Referral Hospital for over a decade.

Dr. Odubu has left an indelible mark on the medical landscape by co-authoring guidelines for the management of various cancers, including Breast, Stomach, Prostate, Cervical, and Oesophageal cancers in Uganda. Actively engaged in ethical considerations, she serves as a valuable member of the Institutional Review Board of COSECSA.

Her commitment to advancing medical knowledge is evident through co-authored publications in esteemed journals, with a primary focus on breast and endocrine surgery in resource-limited settings. As a trailblazer, Dr. Odubu served as the Past President of the Association of Surgeons of Uganda, thereby opening doors for other female surgeons to follow in her distinguished footsteps.

Dr. Odubu's contributions extend beyond the surgical domain, as she has chaired various committees at both hospital and national levels. Currently holding the position of Chairperson of the Uganda Medical Board since 2016, she is also a respected member of the National Advisory Committee on Medical Equipment.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Dr. Odubu has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the MODEL of Excellence by the Forum for African Women Educationists [FAWE-U]. Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Odubu finds rejuvenation in nature through activities like gardening, tree planting, and animal farming, recognizing their therapeutic effects on the mind and body, serving as a preventive measure against burnout.
