Always a great proponent of minimally invasive surgery, he has been electively involved in the endoscopic approach to malignant and benign urologic diseases for more than two decades now. He is in fact an internationally renowned expert in Endourology, the endoscopic discipline that deals mostly with urinary calculosis but also with minimally invasive diagnosis and therapy of urothelial neoplasms of the upper excretory tract. He is the Italian pioneer of flexible ureteroscopy and percutaneous tubeless supine lithotripsy (i.e., without nephrostomy).
He is Assistant Professor of the Operative Unit of Urology at San Raffaele Hospital (Milan) and Head of the European training Center in Endourology.
