Dr. Iris Flores-Sarria is a Pediatric Cardiac Surgery resident at the Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, National Institute of Cardiology, in Mexico City, Mx. She moved to Mx in 2020 after completing 4 years in Nicaragua as a pediatric surgery resident in Managua, Nicaragua from 2015 to 2019.


Dr. Flores-Sarria is currently finishing her last year of residency program in Mexico City. She is a member of the Asociación de mexicana de especialistas en cardiopatías congénitas AMECC.

She has participated and is the Author of scientific papers published in peer-reviewed impact factor scientific journals. 

She is the first woman from her country training in pediatric cardiac surgery; she has also participated in medical missions abroad to perform cardiac surgery. 

Her main professional and scientific interests focus on congenital cardiac surgery, Grown-Up Congenital Heart Disease, pediatric ECMO, pediatric transplant and neonatal cardiac surgery.
