Dr. José Manuel Fort graduated in Medicine and Surgery with honors from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (U.A.B.). After completing the five years of training cycle (MIR), he obtained the title of specialist in General Surgery and Digestive System. Subsequently, he obtained the degree of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery with the qualification of cum laude and made several training stays abroad. Currently, with more than 30 years of professional experience, he is a true expert in two very specific surgical specialties such as Endocrine Surgery and Obesity Surgery. He is the author of more than 200 scientific publications in national and international journals and, for the last 10 years, he has been a Surgeon of Excellence in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery by the European Accreditation Council for Bariatric Surgery (EAC-BS). He is currently the Head of the Endocrine, Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Unit at Vall d'Hebron Barcelona, Hospital Campus. Expert in Robotic Surgery (DaVinci), with more than 10 years of experience and 500 patients operated, he is the pioneer and national reference in robotic laparoscopic surgery applied to the surgical treatment of obesity.
