Doctor Juan Carlos Reyes is a Staff Colorectal Surgeon at the Department of Surgery in Clínica del Country-Clínica La Colina (United Health Group), and Director of Robotic Colorectal Surgery in Fundación Abood Shaio, in Bogotá, Colombia.

Doctor Reyes is the current President of the Colombian Association of Coloproctology and formerly he has been Vice President and Secretary General of this Association. He is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), Member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI), and Member of the European Association of Coloproctology (ESCP). 

Doctor Reyes has been a pioneer in Abdominal and Trans-anal Minimally Invasive Surgery with a principal role in the development of Robotic Colorectal Surgery in Colombia and he is a Key Opinion Leader in Latin-america in Laparoscopic, Trans-anal and Robotic Surgery. He is a recognized Lecturer and Speaker and he has occupied several positions as an Associate and Honorary Professor in Colorectal Surgery at the most important Schools of Medicine in Colombia. 

For about 10 years, he has been a Trainer, Speaker and Preceptor in Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery in Colombia and in Latin-america, contributing with the surgical training of more than 1000 surgeons during this decade.

He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Colombian Journal of Gastroenterology (Rev Col Gastroenterol), paper reviewer for the Journal of Coloproctology,  reviewer and English-to-Spanish translator for Diseases of Colon and Rectum. 

His main professional and scientific interests focus on Colorectal Cancer and Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery, Surgical Education and Biomedical Innovation, Quality of Care and Patient reported Outcomes.
