Professional with a high academic profile as he is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile, where he trains pre and postgraduates for surgical training and, in addition, at the Experimentation Center, he conducts postgraduate courses (laparoscopic training courses -endotraining and in animals-, training an average of 500 students (trainees and specialists) per year. It is important to remember that Prof. Contreras has been the pioneer of the PET technique in Chile, and one of the pioneers of this type of endoscopic treatment of inguinal hernia in Central and South America.
