Petr Tsarkov, a Russian colon and rectal surgeon and educator, was born on June 14, 1957, in Krasnaya gorbatka, Vladimirskaya obl., Russia. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Second Medical Institute N.I. Pirogov in Moscow in 1980. Throughout his career, Tsarkov made notable contributions to the field of surgery, including patented methods for end colostomy reconstruction and rectal resection. In 2008, he was named "Person of the Year" by the National Research Center Surgery, and in 2006, he received the Russian Federation Government award. Tsarkov held various roles in his career, from attending surgeon to heading the Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Surgery Department since 2009 at the National Research Center Surgery. He also served as a senior lecturer at Kazan' Medical University since 2008 and directed educational courses in coloproctology at Moscow State University Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov since 2000. He is a recognized figure in colon and rectal surgery and an educator, noted by Marquis Who's Who. Tsarkov is a member of several professional organizations, including the Russian Stoma Patients Organization and the International Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
