Dr. Sabrina Sanchez is an associate professor of surgery at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and an attending surgeon at the university’s main affiliate hospital, Boston Medical Center, in Massachusetts, USA. 

Dr. Sanchez is the Director for Faculty Development and Diversity and a founding member of ACCESS (Advancing Cultural Competency and Equity in Surgical Specialties) at her university’s Department of Surgery. She is also the current interim director for research in the division of trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care. Within Boston Medical Center she is the secretary and treasurer of the Medical Dental Staff, co-director of the Chief Resident Immersion Training in the Care of the Older Adult program, lead of the Geriatric Surgery Quality Improvement Group, co-chair of the Nutrition Committee, and member of the Diversity and Inclusion Council, Ethics Committee, and Inequity in Surgery Clinical Quality Task Group. 

Dr. Sanchez is the current chair of the Association for Surgical Education Citizenship and Global Responsibility Committee, the vice chair of the Surgical Infection Society Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, the chair of the Socially Responsible Surgery Research Pillar, and the Young Fellows Association Liaison to the Board of Governors Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Educatiodvocacy Workgroup of the American College of Surgeons. 

Her professional and academic interests revolve around patient-centered care and shared decision-making in trauma, acute care surgery, and critical illness, geriatric and palliative care in surgical patients, justice and equity in surgical care, and diversity and inclusion in the surgical workforce.
