Tomasz Rogula, MD, PhD, FACS, is an innovator in bariatric surgery techniques and research. Dr. Rogula is a leader in research focused on weight loss surgery procedures and successful clinical outcomes. In addition to bariatric surgery, his specialties include advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and hernia repair. Dr. Rogula graduated from Jagiellonian University Medical School in Krakow, Poland, where he also completed his residency in general surgery. He completed his fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and directed research programs at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Rogula is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO), the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and the Polish Society of Surgeons. Dr. Rogula has published more than 200 articles and book chapters in the field of bariatric surgery and is president and founder of the world's largest organization of bariatric surgeons, the International Bariatric Club of Oxford University.
