t is essential that we focus a bright spotlight on diversity, equity and inclusion to assure that our “House of Surgery” welcomes those from all different backgrounds and is well equipped to accept and support all surgeons and surgeons in training as they are. The Association of Out Surgeons and Allies (AOSA) is a new affinity group; today we have brought together panelists at all levels of their careers, from resident to Chair of Surgery, to discuss AOSA and also how all of us— AOSA, LGBTQIA+ colleagues and our allies—can work together to best support LGBTQIA+ trainees and faculty and thereby promote a safe and diverse surgical community.
