The Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass is the surgical technique with the best balance between long term results and low morbidity. However, some authors report 10-20% of failed weight loss in the long term. Several surgical strategies have been described to deal with this issue. On September 29 Carlos Vaz from Hospital CUF Infante Santo in Lisboa (Portugal) performed a banded gastric bypass on a morbid obese patient in order to prevent pouch distention and weight regain. In addition, he was assisted by a surgical robot.
