He then discusses SIP and SCIP (Surgical Care Intended Project), which are intended to reduce this complication.

  • Antibiotic prophylaxis 
  • Skin preparation
  •  Intravenous antibiotics
  •  Intraabdominal irrigants 
  • Oral +/- bowel preparation
