Last week the Gastrointestinal Surgery Department at the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona & AIS Channel held several activities related to the surgical treatment of morbid obese patients and their comorbidities. Two days of Clinical Immersion in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery were held followed by a live surgery. For this special occasion, Matthew Kroh from the MIS Bariatric division at the Cleveland Clinic Ohio (USA) and Raquel Sánchez-Santos from the General and Digestive Surgery Department at the Pontevedra Hospital Complex (Spain) visited Barcelona to give lectures, discuss controversies, and exchange ideas.
The hospital’s own bariatric experts were also involved as hosts and mediators in the activities. An update from basic principles to minimal invasive therapies was carried out and recorded to be eventually posted in the Society section at AIS Channel.
