BPH refers to a pathological enlargement of the prostate gland. It is a very common disease affecting men over 50 years-old, with a prevalence of 90% in those over 80 years-old. The causes are no clear, but hormone changes are thought to play a role.
Patients with BPH may present with symptoms that vary from mild to severe, and are commonly referred as low obstructive urinary symptoms (weak urinary flow, nocturia, frequent urination, urgency, etc.).
