March 2020 is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and here at AIS, we have decided to acknowledge the date showing different realities of CRC from different countries in different continents.

We have engaged our collaborators and Ambassadors all over the World, and we will show the results every Friday this month.

So, what about Australia?

Colorectal cancer is a significant healthcare concern in Australia. The incidence is estimated at 60 people per 100,000 population, which remains amongst the highest rates across the world. It is the 3rd most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, and the 2nd leading cause of cancer death.

It affects males more commonly, at a ratio of 1.4 to 1.

The rectum is the most commonly affected anatomical site, followed the the sigmoid colon and caecum.
