LINX is a device intended to restore the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) barrier function while preserving the normal physiology. It can be implanted in an outpatient setting and is reversible if necessary.

After a sleeve gastrectomy, some patients develop gastroesophageal reflux, which can impair their quality of life. For some patients, treatment with IBPs may be the solution. But there are some patients for whom IBP therapy is not enough. These patients have been typically treated with a conversion to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass

The experience acquired after 5500 LINX implantations worldwide in the last 8 years shows good results. This, added to the technical simplicity of the procedure and the low rate of complications, makes it a good choice for patients with GERD.

Given its effectiveness as a treatment for GERD, it is hypothesized that it would be successful for treatment of patients with a sleeve gastrectomy.
