The COLOR II trial is designed to obtain the strongest level of evidence regarding minimal invasive surgery for rectal cancer. It is a randomized clinical trial that compares open and laparoscopic surgery for rectal cancer involving centers in Europe, Canada and South Korea.

A similar study compares Robotic vs laparoscopic rectal cancer resection (the ROLARR trial). Short-term outcomes are available for both of them. In this lecture, Borja de Lacy explains the study designs and their results.
