This video takes you step by step through the subtotal colectomy with antiperistaltic cecorectal anastomosis, first described by Leopoldo Sarli in 2001, and herein originally presented using a laparoscopic single incision approach. Among benign disorders, the indication for this intervention is restricted to a minority of patients (often young women in their 40s, typically with low body mass index), with symptoms of constipation sustained by a primary colonic transit disturbance refractory to medical treatment. The single-incision laparoscopic approach yields outstanding cosmetic results in this setting.
