During this session, Dr. Borja de Lacy from Spain carried out a complex laparoscopic cholecystectomy on a 72-year-old male patient, who had a BMI of 26 and a history of hypertension and previous right inguinal hernia surgery. The patient had been diagnosed with cholelithiasis and chronic cholecystitis, experiencing recurrent biliary colic episodes.

Providing remote support, Dr. Sudeepta Swain from India guided Dr. de Lacy through the surgery using the 4RemoteHealth platform by Zerintia Healthtech and the AIS Telesurgeon. Despite being miles away, Dr. Swain stayed fully connected, offering real-time advice, surgical tips and expert guidance directly through his mobile device.

This groundbreaking approach is reshaping surgical education, increasing access to expert mentorship, and fostering a new era of collaborative, connected surgery worldwide.
