Prof. Mario Musella (ITALY) and his team from AOU "Federico II", Naples, Italy, perform a One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB)
Case Record:
Patient gained weight (40kg) after two consecutive pregnancies.
She followed several diets but failed to achieve a significant weight loss.
Clinical History:
- 43-year-old female patient
- BMI 43.3 Kg/m2
- No previous bariatric surgery
- No obesity-related comorbidities
- History of Cesarean delivery
Procedure Steps:
- Trocar placement
- Creation of a long and narrow gastric pouch
- Preparation of a tailored Bilio-Pancreatic limb according to patient BMI
- Identification of a common limb at least 300 cm long
- Linear stapled gastro-entero anastomosis
- Closure of enterotomies with self-locking suture
- Blue test
Learning Points:
- Preparation of a long and narrow gastric pouch at least 12 cm long
- Preparation of the anterior/posterior face of the stomach
- Preparation of an adequate Bilio Pancreatic limb, neither too short (poor hypoabsorptive effect) nor too long (risk of protein malnutrition)
- Clean closure of the anastomosis
