The demonstrated rise in the incidence of anal squamous cell carcinoma over the years, clearly linked with HPV infection, has prompted the medical community to explore the possibility of preemptively treating the precursor lesions of this cancer. Recent studies have shown that early diagnosis and treatment of high-grade anal dysplasia can reduce the incidence of invasive carcinoma. This presentation will concentrate on the new guidelines and the potential diagnostic and therapeutic options available.
