This talk has three parts. The first part focuses on the association between obesity and arthritis (including rheumatoid arthritis, gout, etc.), whether weight loss caused by bariatric surgery is able to improve arthritis, and whether bariatric surgery is able to prevent the occurrence of arthritis. The second part focuses on the association between obesity and the risk of organ failure (kidney, liver, etc.), and how obesity affects organ transplantation decisions and outcomes. In addition, the time and choice of bariatric surgery in a transplantation setting are analyzed. The third part focuses on bariatric surgery on patients with class-1 obesity. The effectiveness, safety, appropriateness, choice of bariatric surgery as well as some technical details are discussed.
